CECAFA U18: Uganda Seek to Keep Title Chances Alive

Uganda Vs Burundi 6 Pm – Azam Complex Chamazi stadium

Uganda U18 Women National Team will be hoping for maximum points against Burundi as they seek to keep in the title race of this year’s U18 CECAFA Women Championship that is ongoing in Tanzania.

The Five-team tournament is being played under a round robin format and the team with the most points at the end will be named champions.

Uganda has already picked up two wins in their opening two fixtures and they must do the same against Burundi to set up a decider with hosts Tanzania in their last game on Friday.

Uganda opened up with a 1-0 win over Ethiopia before before beating Zanzibar 3-0 four days ago, courtesy of Brenda Munyana, Agnes Nabukenya and Phiona Nabulime goals.

And the head coach, Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi revealed that each game is like a final in this tournament.

“We have so far won our two opening games. This is a tricky tournament where every game is a final and all our training has been on how to get a win against Burundi, to score goals,” Khalifa said.

“All the players are well, the only problem is mental fatigue since it’s a new environment but they are good to go.”

The task at hand for Uganda is to win the Championship and that calls for maximum points in both the remaining two games, starting with Burundi’s game on Tuesday.

Against Burundi, they will need to be more clinical and score more goals, just like the previous game against Zanzibar as they head into the last game on Friday.

A win against Burundi will set up an entertaining affair with Tanzania, who have already won three in what will be a decider for this year’s tournament.
