Title-seeking URA Unveils Enock Walusimbi

URA FC has announced the signing of Uganda Cranes international Enock Walusimbi on a two-years contract.

The talismanic defender will be a Tax Collector until 2025, in which time he’ll be expected to help stabilize the team’s defence and offer leadership at the back.

Walusimbi last played in the Ugandan league in 2022, when he left Wankulukuku after two explosive seasons with the Red Eagles, the first one in which he captained Express FC to their seventh league title, also their first in nine years.

His impressive perfomance catapulted him to the national team, and also secured him a European football deal that saw him cross borders to go feature for Dundee United and Peterhead FC in Scotland, where he didn’t really have a nice time out, citing very limited playing time.

Nevertheless, Walusimbi now returns to the UPL with the Nakawa-based side with international experience.

He is the club’s ninth signing in this transfer period. The latest additions to URA are all senior players with national team appearances and huge top flight football experience.

Besides the four teenagers that the club announced first, Experienced goalkeepers Dennis Otim and Rodgers Omedwa, versatile midfielder Moses Aliro, and former UPDF captain Ibrahim Wammanah all clearly stated that they are at URA to win big trophies – that, clearly should be the motive of the club for signing them.

Now, here comes Walusimbi too, who comes along with international experience. That’s a good reason for other competitors to watch out for the Tax Collectors, who are now signing with intent.

URA last won the league title in the 2010/11 season. Over ten years after, and the closest the Tax Collectors have come a painful second place finish in the 2021, when they finished just one point below Champions Express, that was captained by Walusimbi at the time.
