The Black Pearls have achieved an incredible feat, winning their third consecutive circuit title in the National Rugby 7s.
Following their victories in the Kitgum and Rujumba circuits, the Pearls added the Tooro circuit title to their illustrious cabinet, overcoming the Avengers in the final with a 12-5 victory.
Unfortunately for them, the Pearls had to face the final without their speedstar and current series’ top points scorer—Emily Lekuru, who was shown a red card for a dangerous tackle on Thunderbirds’ Sarah Nakafeero in the semifinal clash.
Following an immediate disciplinary committee meeting, Emily’s suspension was extended to a total of six matches and so will not be with her team in the next circuit.
Her absence in the final undoubtedly had an impact on the team’s dynamics, particularly in the first half of the match, as the Avengers dominated proceedings.

Despite facing adversity and having a slow start to the final, the Black Pearls found their footing, gradually gained momentum, and eventually turned the tide in their favour to secure victory.
They continue to reign supreme at the top of the series standings with a total of 83 points.
However, as they move forward to face the next circuit, the team will have to adjust to the absence of their stand-out player—Emily Lekuru.
Her contributions to the team’s success this far in the campaign, have been invaluable, and her suspension poses a significant test for the Pearls in maintaining their position in the series.
