Rodgers Omedwa: URA Poach Arua Hill Goalkeeper

Goalkeeper Rodgers Omedwa is the latest player to join URA FC, the club has confirmed.

The Tax Collectors have awarded the goalkeeper a two year contract that will keep him at the Nakawa-based club until 2025.

At his unveiling, the shotstopper expressed nothing but sheer joy;

“I am glad to be here and ready to prove my worth. I thank the club management for the trust they put in me. URA FC is a big club and playing here comes with Alot of responsibility which I am aware of.”

“I know there’s alot of competition here but I will work hard to ensure I help the club achieve it’s goals each time I get the chance to play.”

Apparently, there was worry at URA, as the future of their last season’s goalkeepers was and is till uncertain. First choice goalkeeper and captain Allionzi Nafian is set to leave, so might Hannington Ssebwalunyo, while the club is also yet to agree a contract renewal with James Alitho.

URA’s goalkeeping puzzle has seemingly been solved now, as former Arua Hill custodian’s confirmation comes in shortly after another goalkeeper Dennis Otim arrived from Express.

Last season with Arua Hill, Omedwa played 22 matches and kept 12 Clean sheets. While at Busoga in the 20/20 season, he kept 13 cleansheets in 24 matches.

Omedwa’s attributes of good ball distribution, perfect command, aerial prowess and shot stopping enticed URA to sign him.

Besides the two goalkeepers, URA have also confirmed seven other new players, including Moses Aliro, Ibrahim Wammanah, Norman Namanya and teenagers Kisiriko Denis Luzige, Kisolo John Innocent, Amis Bwangani and Godfrey Sekibengo.
