Wakiso Giants Land KCCA FC As FUFA Super 8 Returns

Quarterfinals Draw:
•SC Villa Vs Maroons
•Wakiso Giants Vs KCCA
•URA FC Vs Arua Hill
•BUL FC Vs Vipers SC

After three years without playing the FUFA Super eight, the pre-season tournament finally returns this year.

Eight top teams from the Uganda Premier League will be vying for the title.

Inaugural winners KCCA FC have been drawn away to Wakiso Giants while League champions are also on the road against BUL.

SC Villa will welcome Maroons while URA have a home tie against Arua Hill, with respective winners heading to semifinals while the eliminated teams will play classification games.

Games will be played under one-leg basis, with direct shootouts to separate teams after 90 minutes in case of a draw.

This will be the third edition of the tournament that is played as teams prepare for the new season.

This year’s edition welcomes new sponsors on board in MTN and Nile Special.

Uganda Premier League board chairman Bernard Bainamani said this year’s edition will be a tournament to prepare teams for the new season.

“Initially the tournament had two teams from the big league and six from the top league but we resorted to the best eight so they can prepare well for the forthcoming season as well as preparing the players,” Bainamani explained.

The Super eight defending champions are Vipers and will be favourites to retain their title.

Vipers SC beat KCCA FC 2-1 in 2019 to win the second edition of the Fufa super eight.

This year’s edition will be played between the 4th to 18th of August.
