CAF Confederation Cup: KCCA Learn Path

KCCA FC has learnt its path in the forthcoming 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup.

The Lugogo-based side have received a bye (exempted) at the first round of the Qualifiers.

This, means that KCCA will start the competition at the Second round where the winner qualifies to the CAF Confederation Cup group stages.

KCCA is among the 12 highest ranked teams in this year’s competition and hence were exempted from playing the first hurdle of qualifiers.

CAF made the rankings based on results of 2018 and 2017 to determine the exempted teams.

In the 2nd round, KCCA will meet winner of Olympique de Béja (Tunisia) and Abu Salim SC (Libya) for a place in the group stages.

KCCA will be on the road for the First leg on September 17 and host the Second leg on October 1.

If the aggregate score will be tied after the second leg, the away goals rule will be applied, and if still tied, extra time will not be played, and the penalty shoot-out will be used to determine the winner.

The 16 winners of the second round will advance to the group stage.

KCCA return to the Continent for the first time since elimination by Rwanda’s AS Kigali on away goals rule in 2020/21 season.
