Nkumba Lady Marines are on the verge of relegation after falling 39-87 to Miracle Eaglets on Sunday at Lugogo in the National Basketball League.
The defeat left the Entebbe-based side still rock bottom with just one win from 17 games.
Point Guard Brenda Alyano scored a game high 29 points for the Lubaga-based team that is coached by Arnold Katabi.
Winfred Akello had a double double of 19 points and 17 rebounds while Susan Amito added 11 points for the Eaglets.
No Nkumba Lady Marines player scored in double figures, with Pennitah Nabakko just a point shy of reaching the said total.
This is the 10th victory for Miracle Eaglets who returned to winning ways after back-to-back losses.
Nkumba whose only win this season came against Kampala University, must win at least three of their remaining five games to have a slender chance of beating the drop this season.
But at the other end, Nkumba can still go down even if they win their remaining games if the other relegation contenders pick needed results
Two teams go down at the end of the regular season in the 12-team league.
Currently, Angels has won only three games while Kampala University, A1 Challenge and Nabisunsa have four wins each so far.
Nkumba finished rock bottom (10th) with just a win (against Nabisunsa) in 18 games last season.
But they were brought back into the League this season after FUBA decided on expanding the Women League to 12 teams just like the men’s.
