Vipers SC captain Milton Karisa has revealed the key factor behind their success.
Karisa made the above remarks following their Uganda Cup triumph on Saturday against Police.
And the Vipers Captain scored the all important goal as his side best Police 1-0 in the Uganda Cup finals, to seal a double this season.
While addressing the pressmen after the game, Karisa first thanked the almighty for all their success.
“First of all we don’t do it but God did, I’m so happy for my fellow players and our fans but finally we have made it, an excited Karisa said.”
It has been a brilliant season for Karisa, who was named captain last year at the start of the campaign.
And his first achievement was guiding Vipers to their first ever CAF champions League group stages before winning the league title last week.
And on Saturday against Police, the Venoms won the Uganda Cup, to make history by winning their firsr ever double in club history.
But before all that success, midway in the season, the Venoms had struggled after the departure of Brazilian gaffer Roberto Oliveira and Spanish coach Beto Bianchi before landing Alex Isabirye.
Even at the start of their journey in the Uganda Cup, they needed shootouts on three occasions against Bujjumbura (round of 64), Jinja North (R-32) and against Wakiso Giants (R-16).
Despite all their struggles, Karisa said that Self belief amongest the players kept them going.
“I think it has been self belief amongest us players and the coaches. If you look at the past, we didn’t score goals. So we sat down and found ways on how to put our team up, he added.”
Following their success this season, Vipers will once again represent the country in the CAF champions League.
And Karisa, together with his teammates will be looking to make more history at the Kitende based side next season.
