Weatherhead’s top scorer Anita Atim scored 7 goals as her team thrashed Thunders 9-0 to consolidate their position at the top of the National Hockey League.

Atim got her first two in the opening quarter, and the game stayed that way up untill the last quarter when she made it three. Joan Andika found the fourth before Atim making it five.

Nancy Apio joined the party with Weatherhead’s 6th, and Atim wrapped up the tie with her fifth, sixth and seventh goals.

Atim takes her tally in the league this season to 13 goals, that’s three fewer than the league’s top scorer Doreen Mbabazi.

Mbabazi was not on the score-sheet this game week after her side Wananchi fired blanks against Weatherhead sister club Weatherhead Historicals.

With their 6-0 win over Deliverance Church, Kampala Hockey Club (W) dislodge Wananchi from the second position. Lucy Akello, Winnie Alaro, Joy Sserunjogi, Angela Nakintu and Sandra Namusoke (2) got the goals for KHC.

Weatherhead now lead the table standings with 16 points, that’s three ahead of KHC. Defending champions Wananchi descend to the third position and are now four points adrift of the summit.

Thunders stay bottom with two points.
