Stanbic Uganda Cup
Semi finals Return leg
*Adjumani TC Vs Police FC
Paridi Stadium – 3 Pm
Police FC will be seeking to reach the final of this year’s Stanbic Uganda Cup when they visit Adjumani TC in the semifinal return leg on Friday.
The Cops picked a vital 1-0 win over Adjumani in the first leg at Kavumba last week, thanks to a penalty from Hassan Kikoyo.
And they are now just 90 minutes away from reaching the final as they seek silverware this season.
They missed out on a ticket back to the UPL after finishing fourth in FUFA Big League, and the Uganda Cup is their only hope of silverware.
Police head coach Angelo Lonyesi revealed that their target is now on the big prize.
“If we win on Friday, we shall go to the finals. And I’m telling when we reach the finals, that will be played at a neutral ground in Lira, just know we shall have the advantage,” Lonyesi said.
“Because I’m sure Vipers is already and they are not used to such playing surfaces, our only stumbling block is Adjumani.”
Against Adjumani, despite winning the first leg, Police FC visit a stubborn side that has ejected some of the big names in this year’s edition.
Notably, Adjumani sent out Kitara and Express at the same venue (Paridi Stadium) to reach this far.
And a big test awaits Police FC on thursday if they are to reach the final stage of this competition.
On the other hand, the hosts, Adjumani will be seeking to over turn the first leg deficit when they welcome Police FC at their home on Thursday.
Adjumani suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Cops last week on Thursday in the first meeting between the two sides.
And all they need now will be at least a 2-0 win to make history and reach this year’s edition.
They have been seen as minors against some of the top sides, but have proved their doubters by eliminating some of the big sides like Kitara and Express out of this year’s Uganda Cup.
And after being relegated from the Big League, this is their only hope for silverware and that will drive them to stage a better performance Infront of their home fans in Paridi.
