Weatherhead will head into their seventh game of season looking to maintain their top of the table status in the National Hockey League.
The side will face Thunder on Saturday evening looking to steer clear of Wananchi who they best only on goal difference.
Weatherhead and Wananchi met last Saturday, but the two sides were unable to be separated as the game ended 3-3 which kept Steven Jjuuko’s men top of the table on goal difference.
With Wananchi facing a much stronger opponent compared to Weatherhead’s, the latter will seek to take advantage of that with victory against Thunder.
The side will place their reliance on Thomas Opio for goals. Opio scored a brace against Wananchi last Saturday and he currently leads the goal scoring chart with 13 goals.
Collin Batusa, Maxwell Mugisha and Moses Tushabe are the other players Weatherhead will turn to for goals.
Wananchi will head into their encounter against Rockets a day after learning the Weatherhead result. Whatever that may be, the defending champions will seek to overcome Rockets who sit third in the league with just a point below the top two.
Wananchi know Rockets will be a hard nut to crack, but they will also be aware that defeat for them and victory for Weatherhead will put their chances of defending the trophy at risk.
Wananchi will hope Shafiq Byamukama, Jordan Achaye and Jackson Musinguzi continue with their scoring form as they look to outcompete Rockets.
KHC Originals against Badgers will open the weekend in the men’s division on Saturday afternoon, and KHC against City Lions will close it on Sunday evening.
Makerere vs Weatherhead Titans will complete the men’s fixtures this weekend. That game will also be played on Sunday, and all these games will take place at the Hockey grounds in Lugogo.
Titans are rooted to the bottom of the table while Makerere sit seventh in the league.
