Netball South Africa has confirmed the final squad for the SPAR Proteas ahead of the 2023 Netball World Cup.
The hosts will fancy their chances to go far in the tournament, which is the first ever to be held on African soil.
The squad of 15 players will be captained by Bongiwe Msomi.
“I believe that we have worked very hard with the players at our disposal. We have had some technical and tactical aspects of the game put to the players and at their game,” said SPAR Proteas Head Coach Norma Plummer.
“We managed to get some practice matches as well so that, we are sure. We have chosen the best 15 players (12 traveling and 3 reserves) which we believe are the best options.”
The team has been training at the Stellenbosch Academy of Sports since 7th of May 2023.
The 2023 Netball World Cup starts on the 28th of July till 6th August 2023.
South Africa, just like any other African country, have never won the World Cup.
But the Spar Proteas finished second after falling to Australia in the 1995 World Cup in England.
They are pitted in Pool C alongside Jamaica, Wales and Sri Lanka.
