FUFA Elevates Kankonde’s Suspension To Eight Games

Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has suspended KCCA FC forward Simon Tsisungu Kankonde.

Kakonde has been slapped with a six-game suspension and will pay Sh1m at the completion of his ban.

The Congolose burly forward punched Referee Mashood Ssali at fulltime following KCCA’s loss against Vipers in a league game at Kitende last Friday.

He was sent off by Mashood, and from the two-game red card suspension, he will in total miss eight league games.

With four league games remaining, the developments mean that Kankonde will miss the remaining part of the season.

FUFA statement reads:

“The FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel has suspended Kankonde Tsishungu in addition to the automatic suspension by the match official; a further suspension of six FUFA SUPL matches for breach of Article 31 of the FUFA Competition Rules. The player shall miss a total of the next eight physically played games after match 130 VIPERS SC Vs KCCA FC.

“The above sanction is effective immediately and shall be carried forward to the next SUPL season of 2023/2024 until the conclusion of the same.

“The panel has also fined Kankonde UGX 1,000,000 and it is to be paid by completion of his entire suspension. He shall be ineligible until payment of the fine.”

KCCA coach Jackson Mayanja has been given a suspension of two games and a fine of Sh1m as well.

Mayanja is found guilty of using inappropriate comments during the after match Press Conference after he called out referee Mashood Ssali.

Vipers goalkeeping coach Ibrahim Mugisha who was sent off, has been given a further suspension of two games.

He will miss a total of four games and will as well pay a fine of Sh1m
