Tanzanian giants Young Africans progressed to the semifinals of the CAF Confederation Cup after a draw against Rivers United of Nigeria.

Yanga, as locally known, held on to a 0-0 draw at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, in a game highlighted by power disruption (floodlights).

The Tanzanians advance on a 2-0 aggregate, having won 2-0 in the first leg thanks to Fiston Mayele’s brace in Nigeria.

Young African consequently become the first ever Tanzanian club to get to the semifinals of a CAF competition.

Standing in their way at the semis is Marumo Gallants of South Africa, a side that knocked out Egyptian side Pyramids.

Marumo won 1-0 at home, to progress on a 2-1 aggregate win, after the first leg clash in Cairo ended 1-1.

Celimpilo Ngema’s goal proved the difference as the South African side took care of the home advantage.

Elsewhere, FAR Rabat of Morocco beat USM Alger of Algeria in Rabat on Sunday night 3-2 but bundled out lost the tie 4-3 on aggregate, having lost the first-leg 2-0 last week.

Alger will face Ivorian side ASEC Mimosas who eliminated Egyptian side Pyramids thanks to a 2-1 aggregate win.
