URA 2-3 Maroons
Maroons scored a late winner to shock URA with a 3-2 triumph in the Uganda Premier League at Mehta stadium Lugazi in the early kickoff.
Dada Ibrahim’s brace was not enough to give URA the maximum points on the day they will want to forget easily.
Abel Eturude, Abraham Tusubira and Darius Ojok goals inspired the Prison Warders to victory.
It’s URA’s second defeat since returning to the Mehta stadium, putting an end to two games winning streak.
For Maroons it’s two consecutive wins after going three games without victory.
They have picked four points against the Tax collectors following a 2-2 stalement in the reverse fixture at Luzira Prisons ground.
The visitors had the first sight at goal after Amaku Fred dispossessed Eric Ssenjobe but his touch was too heavy and Goalkeeper Nafian Alionzi cleared the ball.
Dada broke the deadlock for the hosts racing on Nicholas Kabonge ball to loop past the on rushing Goalkeeper Amir Nalugoda.
URA had a number of chances to add to their tally but they couldn’t make them count, goalscorer Dada, Bruno Bunyaga, Saidi Kyeyune were all not clinical enough.
In the half hour mark, Abel Eturude restored parity for Maroons heading home from Tusubira pinpoint Cross.
Three minutes later Eturude turned provider for Tusubira to lob over the Goalkeeper to double the visitors lead.
In the Second half, the hosts started brightly and in the 50th minute Dada equalised with a powerful low freekick that left the Goalkeeper static after a foul on Kyeyune to complete his brace.
Both sides had a share of goal scoring chances to beat the Goalkeepers but neither of their attempts could cross the line.
Brian Kayanja who came on for injured Amaku in the first half saw his header go wide while Tusubira and Felix Okot all had sights at goal for Maroons.
On the otherside side, Alfred Leku twice couldn’t direct his efforts on target.
But it was Maroons who grabbed a late winner in the 93rd minute through Ojok who calmly put it past Goalkeeper Alionzi from Kayanja’ cut back pass.
URA remain fourth with 34 points after 24 matches while Maroons move to 6th with 33 points in 23 matches.
