Preview: KCCA start life after Morley Byekwaso

KCCA FC will start life after Morley Byekwaso when they take a visit to URA FC in an early kick off game at the Mehta Stadium in Lugazi.

Byekwaso resigned from his role following their 1-0 defeat against Bright Stars on Sunday, a loss that sent KCCA out of this year’s Stanbic Uganda Cup.

His resignation was imminent following the club’s poor run of results and pressure from both KCCA faithful and all people at the Lugogo based club.

Before Sunday’s game, the club had drawn three consecutive league games and the loss to Bright Stars was all but Byekwaso’s last nail in his coffin.

And the club, on tuesday officially confirmed that Badru Kaddu will take over as an interim coach with his first task being an away game to URA.

The game against URA presents a quick test for Kaddu but he believes it’s now time to fight till the end.

“We are fully focused on the Uganda Premier League as it is the only competition we are left to fight for this season,

In URA, they visit a tricky that has always been a threat just as seen in their previous meetings.

But given the fact that they are still in the title race, KCCA will hope to stage a better performance to bring back the hearts of their fans and also try closing down the gap at the top.

URA on the other hand will be seeking to add more salt into KCCA’S wounds when they welcome them at Mehta.

The Tax Collectors have been brilliant ever since the start of the second round, picking four wins out of six games.

That good run saw them move to the fifth position and are now on 30 points.

Another big factor is that they returned back to Mehta, and picked a 2-1 win over Wakiso Giants in the latest home game at Wednesday venue.

Ahead of the game, their head coach Sam Timbe said

“We have been preparing since we returned back home. We have players coming back like Alfred Leku and Najib Fesali and we need to keep fighting for victory. It will boost us in the right direction which have been fighting for, Sam Timbe told the club’s media on Tuesday.

With 30 points in the fifth position, URA have another chance to move up on the table and that factor will push them to stage a superior performance against KCCA on wednesday.

Stats
URA FC are currently fifth on the log with 30 points collected from 21 games.

KCCA are second on the log with 38 points after 19 games, five below leaders SC Villa who have played two games more.
