Busoga United Compound Onduparaka Misery

Monday 10th April
Busoga United 1-0 Onduparaka.

Busoga United boosted their survival chances with a 1-0 victory over struggling Onduparaka in the Uganda Premier game at the Kakindu Stadium.

Peter Onzima’s third minute strike was the difference as Busoga United completed a double over Onduparaka.

This was the same scoreline in the reverse fixture at Bombo Barracks Ground where Onduparaka hosted their opening five games after a FUFA ban.

Busoga United was the better side in most of the game and they went home with deserved three points.

For Onduparaka, they didn’t play like a team in the bottom fighting to avoid drop most especially in the forst half.

And by the time they settled in the game, it was too late after the damage was caused.

Busoga United took an early lead in under three minutes through Onzima who raced on Ibrahim Kayiwa’s long ball that was missed by Okocha. The goalscorer beat the Left back who tried to make amends before firing a powerful shot past the Goalkeeper.

The hosts couldn’t settle for less despite being in front, they dominated the proceedings and could have added their tally but they were not smart enough in front of goal.

Laban Tibiita’s back heel went over the bar before Isaac Doka Mweru strike was saved by Goalkeeper Okello Mathias and Onzima skied the rebound from close range.

The visitors’ rare sights at goal fell to Gama Williams whose lee ward effort was saved by Okurut John before Oloro Nathan attempt went wide.

It was all Busoga United in the first half as Onduparaka did more defending than attacking.

In the second half, the caterpillars came back with more intent.

Gama once again met Ojara flick but he ballooned the ball over the bar before Okocha’s attempted cross nearly beat the Goalkeeper but he had a tip to it and hit the woodwork.

The hosts however could have doubled their lead but Mutenza couldn’t bury a nice ball from Tibiita after a nice interplay with Doka.

In the dying minutes, the visitors pressed for a leveller but Davis Mayanja effort was too easy for the Goalkeeper.

Busoga United move to 12th with 22 points after 21 matches while Onduparaka remain rock bottom with 13 points in 20 matches.

  1. Surely Onduparaka FC lacks mental ability game in game out.
I was on ground, and that Onzima goal came through from Okocha’s missed header.
Nevertheless, the green army seem to be getting to follow the roots of Mbarara City to make yet another another attempt from the second tier.
The players’ body language was not sounding at all. With Ibrahim Kongo from touchline, and Gadhino Gadafi not seen today, I think they have learnt what they had not.
