Wakiso Giants 0-1 UPDF
Busoga United 0-1 Villa

Gerald Kimuli’s first half goal was the difference as UPDF held on to overcome Wakiso Giants in a Uganda Premier League game at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.

This, helps UPDF break the Jinx of five games winless run over the Purple Sharks.

The win is UPDF’s first on the road this season, their first since May 2022 when they beat Mbarara City 2-1 at Kakyeka stadium.

They had gone ten matches without a victory away from Bombo Barracks Ground.

The Army side have also reciprocated the result against Bright Stars to register consecutive victories.

The victory eases relegation pressure over the Bombo based side, they now sit three points clear from the red zone.

For Wakiso Giants they are in search of their first victory in the second half of the season.

They have now lost four of the five League matches this year drawing just one.

John Luyinda’s side has been hit with injuries and missed ten first team players in this fixture, and had only five substitutes two of which were Goalkeepers.

Titus Ssematimba was twice denied by the woodwork in the first half as the hosts were in search of an opener and equaliser.

In the 31st minute, Kimuli broke the deadlock to give the visitors the lead.

The goal that was Kimuli’s first since joining UPDF in January proved to be the winning goal.

Though the hosts went all out to find the leveller in the second half but couldn’t break the visitors backline.

UPDF move 12th on the log with 18 points after 19 matches while Wakiso Giants are 6th with 26 points.
