“I’m actually very happy, it’s a dream come true scoring for Uganda Cranes on this big stage, I can’t express my happiness deep inside me,” Mato told the pressmen after the game.

It was a needed result for the Cranes, who had lost to the same days four days back in Egypt.

And on Tuesday, Mato’s goal proved the difference on the day.

Mato went on to praise the almighty for making his heroic moment happen.

“Actually I was pushing a colleague; I was pushing Isma Mugulusi because he was the one starting and I told him, go and win for us the game. But unfortunately, God passed the answers through me, Alhamudililah”

The result was also a turning point for Uganda Cranes in their quest to Qualify for AFCON due next year in Ivory Coast.

They moved joint second, level on four Points and similar goal difference with Tanzania in Group F, where leaders Algeria have already booked a ticket to AFCON.
