Sunday 26th March
*Calvary FC 2-1 Kitara FC
*Police FC 1-1 Mbarara City

Calvary FC held on to cruise past leaders Kitara in the FUFA Big League game played at the Midigo Ground in Yumbe.

First half goals from Owiny Ronald Ogenga from the spot and Kedi Micheal inspired the hosts to a 2-1 victory over the Royals.

Jasper Aheebwa scored the only goal for Kitara via a penalty kick.

It’s a perfect revenge for Dudu Bosco’s side who lost the reverse fixture 3-0 at Kigaaya playground.

Calvary also knocked out Sam Ssimbwa’s side from the
Uganda Cup last week.

Calvary now stretches their unbeaten home record to ten matches.

This is Sam Ssimbwa’s first League defeat since taking over the helm in January for Kitara FC.

And it’s Kitara’s first defeat since a 1-0 away defeat to Mbarara City on 15th December 2022

It’s a setback for Kitara FC in their promotion battle, they are just two points clear at the summit.

Kitara’s away woes continue, registering their third defeat on the road with six draws and two wins.

It took just 11 minutes for the hosts to break the deadlock through Captain Owiny who scored from the spot.

However, the hosts lead didn’t take long after Aheebwa restored parity in the 21st minute from the penalty.

At the stroke of halftime in the 40th minute, Kedi restored Calvary’s lead capitalising on mistimed cross by Farouk Katongole.

This proved to be the winning goal after both sides failed to find the back of the net in the second half.

Despite the visitors intent to find a leveller, the hosts defence stood tall.

Calvary FC moves to 5th with 33 points after 22 matches while Kitara FC remain top with 43 points after 22. matches.
