Power face a mission impossible when they meet eight-time champions City Oilers as the National Basketball League continues at Lugogo.

The five-time winners struggled in their opening game against newcomers Rezlife Saints on Sunday.

Power won 83-81 in a game they trailed for the best parts, made 33 turnovers and were out-rebounded 45-43.

And will have to be at their best to put up a challenge against an Oilers side that eased past KIU Titans on the day.

Against Rezlife, Power led through Elvis Ssentongo who scored 27 points.

The side, under new coach Timothy Odeke who replaced Bernis Akunda (now Technical Director), lack quality in their depth.

Geoffrey Soro, Innocent Ochera, Odom Kasinde, Dickson Asiku and Guddi ‘Kikiri’ Nasser left the side, while the replacements leave a lot to be desired.

Elvis Mutebi and Ceaser Adoke joined from KIU Titans and UCU Canons respectively, with the latter missing their league opener.

Veteran Isaac Afidra who was rested for about two minutes, finished with only four points, a performance he will have to better against well-oiled league holders.

Oilers are heads and shoulders above everyone this season in the division, and they showed that in their opening victory against KIU Titans.

New signing Michael Ngut will once again be a star attraction, while other additions including the former UCU Canons duo Fayed Baale and Titus Lual may prove handful for Power.

Last season, Power and Oilers split their regular season meetings – The Oilers won the first round tie 75-68 while Power won the second round fixture 82-75.
