The shot-stopper went down after punching out Daglas Oyirwoth cross, and when the ball was recycled back into the area, the goal was unguarded for Jibril Nsimbe to slot in the opener.
Bright Stars protested the decision, claiming that their goalkeeper was fouled in the build up to the goal, but Kasalirwe was in close range and he let the goal stand.
During the altercation in the ensuing chaotic minutes, Matovu tripped Referee Kasalirwe who was trying to get away from the scene.
He was consequently issued with a straight red card, which will see him miss three games!
The ugly scenes continued briefly and a couple of Bright Stars players who had tense verbal exchanges with Kasalirwe, had to be restrained away from the melee.
The FUFA Disciplinary panel is expected to review the Referee’s report before taking further action if need be.
And its expected that the three-game ban for the red card may be insufficient for the goalkeeper.
Matovu was earlier this season awarded by FUFA President Moses Magogo for a heroic save against URA at Nakisunga.
