Fixtures:
The Lower League Management Committee (LLMC) has issued out fixtures for the Lower Leagues.
The Lower leagues include the Division One for both Men and Women and also the Division Two for Men.
The tip-off for the Lower Leagues has been moved to March 25, not March 18 as earlier communicated.
LLMC said: “This is a decision made after serious deliberations. We apologize for any inconveniences caused on your side.”
New Teams
Ten new teams in total have joined the Lower Division including Sky Jammers who return from hibernation.
The Jinja-based Sky Jammers won the National Basketball League in 2001, then beating Power 3-1 in final series.
UCU Elgon Doves, said to be loosely attached to former Uganda Christian University Students, has also registers to compete.
YMCA Hamsters return after exciting last season, leading to creation of Sommet.
Those three Men’s teams were registered in Division Two.
In the Women Category, two Secondary Schools – Kibuli SS and Sseta High – have joined.
Our Saviour and UPDF have created Women teams as well.
Legends, that will feature former iconic players who initially retired, has also registered to compete.
Tigers is the latest member alongside YMCA Ladies who like their Men counterparts, has been revived.
All the 10 teams were ushered in last Saturday during the FUBA AGM.
The Venues
For the Division One (Men and Women), the selected venues are Makerere Main ground, Entebbe Municipal Court, YMCA Court in Wandegeya and KIU Kansanga.
Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi has been given two match-days in the first round – May 13 and on Martyrs Day (June 13).
And Gulu Hawks have been allowed to host a total of their eight games in Gulu, at Caribean.
For Division Two, the league will be played at Nakasero, with only three match-days to be held in Lubowa, the home of Rezlife Saints (and Berkeley).
