Kawempe Muslim picked their second consecutive victory in FUFA Women Super League following their 2-0 win over Makerere University WFC on Sunday morning.

Second half goals from Shakira Nyinagahirwa and Agnes Nabukenya ensured that the Valley warriors bagged maximum points on the day.

The win, fifth for Kawempe ensured that they moved to the third position, level on points with UCU (20), but have a superior goal difference (8).

For Makerere University, it was a big blow for them in their quest to get out of the relagation zone as they remained second from the bottom.

The game, held Kawempe grounds was delayed after a heavy down pour on Sunday morning.

After a period of almost one hour, the game was started with most of the areas on pitch flooded.

And throughout the first half, both sides failed to create clear cut chances given the poor state of the pitch that limited the movement of the ball.

After the break, it was the hosts that came a more rejuvenated side and they showed early signs of scoring first.

Agnes Nabukenya came closest at the restart, but her effort was kept out for a corner by She Mak goalkeeper Shadia Nankya.

And finally, the endless efforts for Kawempe Muslim paid in rhe the 68th minute, through Nyinagahirwa, who deflected in a pass for the game’s opening goal.

Moments later, Nabukenya made it two, scoring in an empty net after beating off her markers in the area including goalkeeper Nankya.

In the closing stages, She Mak barely threatened and it was instead the hosts who looked more brilliant upfront.

Victory ensured that Kawempe Muslim picked a second consecutive win in a row. The win takes them to 20 points in the third position, two below second placed Uganda Martyrs.

For She Mak, it was a poor day in office for them as they suffered their 7th loss in the season. They are still second from the bottom with 12 points and will need to double their efforts in the remaining five games if they are save their season.

Kawempe Muslim will visit Rines WFC on Sunday 26th March in the next game while Makerere University welcome Uganda Martyrs on the same day.
