Senegal were on Saturday crowned champions of AFCON U20 for the very first time.

The Young Teranga Lions beat neighbours Gambia 2-0 in a final held at Cairo International Stadium.

Two good headers from Sulaymane Faye and Mamadou Camara handed Malick Diaf’s side deserved victory at Cairo International Stadium.

The defeat puts an end to Gambia’s fairytale for a side that went unto Saturday’s final without conceding a goal.

And that honour goes to Senegal who will leave the tournament in Egypt unscathed.

Senegal opened the scores after six minutes through Faye who connected on a good cross from Pape Diallo.

And they doubled their advantage in the second half when Camara headed in from a corner.

Senegal were the better side and could have won by a bigger margin but failed to convert their other chances.

Captain Samba Diallo sent his half volley an inch wide while Mouhamed Gueye rattled the woodwork.

Senegal extends their dominance on the Continent as they are the Champions of AFCON, Beach Soccer AFCON and CHAN.
