Uganda Cranes coach Milutin Micho Sredejovich has summoned the squad for Tanzania double-header in AFCON Qualifiers.

The 29-man Uganda Cranes provisional squad include South African-based goalkeeper Salim Jamal who returns to the squad.

Jamal has been in fine form with Richards Bay where he has 11 clean sheets in the league, but had reportedly fell out with the Federation (FUFA).

The vocal Jamal was last in National colours in 2021 when he was on bench against Malawi in Blantyre during the 2021 AFCON Qualifiers.

The Cranes lost that crucial game 1-0 to miss an AFCON ticket, in what was Captain Denis Onyango’s last International game.

Egypt-based left back, turned into winger, Joseph Ochaya is the other returnee as Uganda Cranes prepare to face Tanzania.

Captain Emmanuel Okwi, Khalid Aucho and Farouk Miya are the other senior players in Micho’s squad.

Uganda will host Tanzania in Egypt as CAF did not find any stadium in thee Country fit to host a game of such calibre.

FUFA has stated that the team will enter residential camp on March 15 at Cranes Paradise Hotel in Kisasi.

Then, they will play a regional tour game against Kitara region on Friday, 17th in Bundibugyo district.

Some of the selected players from the regional tour game will travel to Egypt on Sunday.

The foreign based players summoned will join the rest of the squad in Cairo direct from their respective clubs.

The Cranes started their campaign with a 2-0 loss away to Algeria before a 1-1 draw with Niger at Kitende back in June last year.

And they sit bottom of Group F with just a point, and they are eyeing at least four points from the double-header against Tanzania’s Taifa Stars to resurrect qualification chances.

The top two teams will qualify for the AFCON due next year in January in Ivory Coast.

After the Tanzania double-header, the Cranes host Algeria in June before ending the campaign with an away game against Niger.
