Kitara FC picked a narrow 1-0 win over fellow promotion hopefuls NEC FC in a FUFA Big League game held at Coffee ground in Bugolobi on Thursday.

Defender Dudu Ramadhan scored late in the 85th minute from the spot to ensure that his side picked vital points.

It is a big win for Kitara and the second under Sam Simbwa’s stewardship. They now move to 40 points after 20 games and are still leading the race.

For NEC FC, it was a bad day in office for them as they suffered their first home defeat this season.

The game, held at Bugolobi saw a closely contested affair in the opening minutes of the game.

And throughout, both teams created a limited chances as they tried to grow into the game.

NEC’s best chance at half time fell to Oscar Ssesaazi but his effort from a free kick was kept out by Kitara goalkeeper Micheal Kagiri.

For Kitara, it was Edson Agondeze who had the best chances at half time. First, he headed wide off Godfrey Lwesibawa’s well delivered corner before he sent his effort wide after a nice interplay with George Senkaaba.

After the break, it was Kitara who looked more aggressive in the final third.

They had more chances on goal and NEC goalkeeper Micheal Okiria was the busiest on the evening.

And the turning point came in the 85th minute when substitute Bwambale Lazaro was brought down area by a rushing Brian Mato, only for referee Oloya to point to the spot.

From the resultant kick, Dudu made no mistake, sent the goalkeeper the wrong way for the game’s only goal.

Victory ensured that Kitara picked vital points in the title race this season. They are now on 40 points and are still leading the Fufa Big League standings.

For NEC FC, it was their fifth loss this season and their first at home. They remained on 37 points and will need to pick up themselves so as to stay in the race this season.
