University Football League Kickoff Postponed

The organisers of the Pepsi University Football League have postponed the kickoff of this year’s edition, it’s official.

The 11th edition was scheduled to get underway on Thursday, March 9 2023 as defending Champions Uganda Martyrs face off with Bugema University in Nkozi.

No further communication has been put out but new kickoff dates will be communicated in the due course.

This year’s edition will have 24 teams, including debutants ISBAT University while Kampala International University (KIU) will be making a return to the competition.

Uganda Martyrs (UMU) are the defending champions having beaten St Lawrence 1-0, thanks to Kaija Sanny’s goal, in the final at Lugogo last year in November.

Mukono-based UCU edged MUBS in shootouts for third place.

University Football League Groups:

Group A – Kabale University, Uganda Martyrs University, Bugema University, University of Kisubi

Group B – Islamic University In Uganda, Makerere University Business School, Victoria University, YMCA

Group C – Muni University, Kyambogo University, Makerere University, Ndejje University

Group D – Kumi University, Uganda Christian University, Busitema University, Kampala International University

Group E – Gulu University, St Lawrence University, International University of East Africa, Nkumba University

Group F – Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Kampala University, Bishop Stuart University, ISBAT University
