Lutalo Blames Kampala Queens Draw on Wasted Chances

Kampala Queens coach Hamza Lutalo says his side could have picked maximum points if they converted their chances.

For the first time this season, the Quesns failed to win a game following a stalemate with Makerere University at the IUIU ground Kabojja in the FUFA Women Super League

The Table Leaders dropped points against relegation side Makerere University in a match played on Sunday.

The Queens were on course for another win when Shamirah Nalugya scored first but they were pegged back when the visitors new signing Husna Mpanja levelled matters.

“We got a lot of chances and failed to utilise them but I believe we shall rectify our mistakes and come back stronger,” Lutalo said after the game.

“To me it was not a surprise because you can’t win all games without losing, but we thank God because we did not lose the match.

“So the players need to wake up. As the technical team we were expecting to lose a game at one point, but since we got a draw we shall get back stronger.”

Lutalo also said that his side could have done better but missed some key players due to injuries including Zainah Namuleme and Margaret Kunihira.

Makerere University not only halted Kampala Queens’ perfect run, but a point was also vital in their struggle to survive relegation.

Nalugya commended her fellow teammates and said that the draw is also a good result.

She added: “Getting back on the score sheet is amazing and I pray that we can bounce back stronger as we remain focused for the next games.”

Kampala Queens moved to 34 points on top of the table in 12 games, and are still unbeaten.

Makerere remained ninth with 12 points.

Kampala Queens will visit Uganda Martyrs while Makerere will continue their relegation survival with a visit to Kawempe Muslims ladies on Sunday 13th March.
