Lira Corporate League: NBL Tops First Outing


Nile Breweries Limited (NBL) tops the log on goal difference level on six points with LRRH in the first outing as Lira Corporate League got underway.

The first edition of the Lira Corporate League organised by Gazelles Corporate Club kicked off on 26th February at Uganda Technical College in Lira under the sponsorship of Nile Breweries Limited.

With two matches played on the first outing, NBL who beat both Prisons and Downtown lead the log on superior goal difference with LRRH in the second after victories against WATU and Prisons all picking six points.

It has so far attracted 13 Corporate companies and the registration will end in March.

NBL, LRRH, Legends, Gazelles, Watu, Downtown, QFM 94.3, MWE, Space Lounge, Super Select, Palmeiras, Prisons and UTC are the teams that opened up the first outing.

The league will run once in a month every Sunday from 26th February to 26th November and the awards dinner will be held on 10th December.

The teams will compete in Football which is the main game in a 7-aside with a female player in every team, Tag of War and Board games.

The winner will walk away with 2 Million Shillings, 1.5 Million Shillings for the first runner up and one million Shillings for second runner up.

Most Valuable player, Top scorer, Best Goalkeeper, Best Female player, Fair play, Most Disciplined team, Smartest team, Lira Corporate League Best seven, Tag of War winning team of the season will all walk away with Accolades and gift hampers.

At the end of the first outing 19 goals were scored in 12 matches with only three yellow cards dished out and no red card.

Legends’ Gasper top the scoring chart with four goals followed by Agaba of NBL with two goals.

The league will return on Sunday 26th March at UTC Lira for the second outing.
