Makerere University WFC denied leaders Kampala Queens maximum points for the first time this season after a 1-1 all draw in a league game held at Kabojja grounds on Sunday.
Shamirah Nalugya had earlier put Kampala Queens ahead at the restart of the second half.
But Husna Mpanja Ayub levelled matters moments later to deny the hosts maximum points on the day.
It was the first time this season that Kampala Queens dropped points and the result ends their 100% run this season.
They had won all their opening 11 games prior to Sunday’s encounter with Makerere.
The draw leaves them on 34 points after 12 games, but are still run away leaders and strong favourites to win their maiden league title.
For Makerere University, they will feel proud for picking up a vital point against the league leaders and more so away from home.
After a goalless first half at Kabojja, the hosts came back a rejuvenated side and it paid off when captain Nalugya scored five minutes into the second stanza.
But Kampala Queens lead was shortlived as Mpanga levelled matters 10 minutes to send the visiting fans into wild celebrations.
There on, Kampala Queens searched for a winner but could not break a well composed Makerere University side.
And in the end, nothing could separate the two sides as they settled for a point each.
It was a frustrating day for Kampala Queens who looked blunt on many occasions upfront.
The draw denied them a chance to extend their winning round and they will need to double their efforts in the remaining seven games.
For She Mak, it was a vital point earned in their quest to save their season. They are second from the bottom with 12 points and they will be seeking to build on Sunday’s performance in their remaining games.
