Onduparaka 2-1 Gadaffi
Onduparaka left it very late with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Gadaffi FC in the Uganda Premier League encounter in Arua.
Bida Ezra gave the hosts the lead before Steven Munguchi equalised for the Visitors.
But Okocha Rashid grabbed a late winner to hand Onduparaka maximum points.
This is Steven Bogere’s first win in the second round and only the second this season while Gadaffi are winless this year after a draw in the opener with Villa.
It’s a huge win for Onduparaka in their battle to avoid relegation – They remain rock bottom with 10 points, five adrift of safety.
Onduparaka who were the better side would have had more goals but they were not clinical enough to bury their chances.
Bida broke the deadlock for the hosts in the 15th minute racing to a long ball from Alex Adriko above the defenders to lob past the Goalkeeper and head into an open net.
Obonga Dominic was too wasteful infront of goal and couldn’t double the hosts lead despite a number of chances.
Gadaffi’s rare attempt at goal fell to Joel Madondo at the stroke of halftime but his strike proved easy for the Goalkeeper.
The visitors started the second stanza strongly and were rewarded with a goal to restore parity.
In the 50th minute, Substitute Munguchi who came on for Mahad Yaya Kakooza in the first half curled the ball past the Goalkeeper following a nice ball from John Byamukama after a dummy from Johnson Odongo.
Onduparaka later settled in the game and thought they had restored their lead but Okocha was flagged offside before teeing up Bida who tapped in from close range.
Joel Mutakubwa was firm to deny Fazilinho, Bida and Ojara as the hosts were pressuring for the winner.
Just when the game was destined for a draw, Okocha grabbed a late winner in the 91st minute.
It was a beautiful goal that started when Okocha started a short corner to Gama William who returned the ball to him, dribbled past the defenders before slotting between the Goalkeeper’s legs.
Onduparaka still remain rock bottom on the log with 10 points while Gadaffi FC are 8th with 22 points after 17 matches.
