Kitara FC beat Calvary 1-0 in a Big League encounter held at Kigaaya.

The win, is the first for the Club in the league under coach Sam Ssimbwa.

David Kasaija headed in a well delivered cross from Moses Sseruyide in the 65th minute for the only goal of the game.

Sseruyidde was outstanding and could have had a goal of his name but he was denied by a post.

Jasper Aheebwa also came closest only to fire over and wide inside the opening ten minutes of the second stanza.

It’s a breather for Ssimbwa who joined the team in the second round after the side had suspended coach Mark Twinamatsiko.

Prior to Thursday’s game, Kitara had drawn their last three league games under Ssimbwa.

It’s Ssimbwa’s second win overall at the club having beaten Uganda Pentecostal University (UPU) FC in Uganda Cup.

The win sends Kitara to 37 points, at the top of the log after NEC (37) and Mbarara City (36) played a 1-1 draw.
