Big League: Ten-man Police Ease Past Calvary

Thursday 2nd March
Police FC 4-0 Calvary FC

Ten-man Police FC ran riot against Calvary FC at Kavumba Recreation Ground in the FUFA Big League.

A goal by Hassan Kikoyo, Reagan Male, Nsereko Abdul and Dennis Kalanzi moved the Cops to the summit, for the meantime, as they wait for the outcomes from NEC, Mbarara City and Kitara FC.

Police FC played the second half with a man less after Goalkeeper Davis Mutebi was sent off at the stroke of halftime.

It’s the 10th cleansheet of the season and most importantly their 10th home win.

Calvary have now lost two consecutive games, conceding seven goals in the process.

The Visitors could have taken an early lead after a strong start but Emmanuel Ochen failed to get the ball past the Goalkeeper after a nice run.

Kikoyo broke the deadlock for the hosts from the spot in the 21st minute following a foul on Tonny Kiwalazi by Akodi Solomon.

Reagan Male doubled Police’s lead after cutting in from the left wing to curl the ball past the Goalkeeper’s near post in the 36th minute.

In the 43rd minute, Police FC was reduced to 10 men when Goalkeeper Davis Mutebi was shown straight Red card after he handled Ochen’s strike outside the box.

Going into the second half, Calvary had numerical advantage but they failed to capitalise on that.

With three minutes into the hour mark, Nsereko scored the third for Police when he nicely controlled a cross from Martin Owalamu to slot between the Goalkeeper’s hands.

Two minutes later, Nsereko turned provider but Kalanzi couldn’t poke the ball to the back of the net.

Kalanzi finally got off the mark when he collectd a rebound after Owiny Ronald poor clearance to pounce home from close range in the 78th minute.

The hosts could have added more but Nsereko only hit the post after the Goalkeeper failed to collect a long ball before substitutes Emmanuel Mugume and Benaldo Kateregga all came close.

Police FC move top of the table for the meantime with 37 points while Calvary remain 5th with 27 points after 19 matches.
