Vipers Seek To End Goal Drought

Vipers will hope to end their scoring woes when they welcome Wakiso Giants in their opening UPL Second Round game at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

The Venoms are yet to find the back of the net in their last five games in all competitions.

This include their last league game which closed the first round – a 1-0 away loss to Busoga United in Njeru.

They needed penalty shootouts in the two Uganda Cup ties against Bujjumbura and Jinja North after normal times ending 0-0.

The other two games are in CAF Champions League where they lost 5-0 away to Raja Casablanca and a 0-0 draw against Horoya at Kitende.

And another shutout against Wakiso Giants will pile more pressure on new coach Beto Bianchi who replaced Roberto Oliveira who moved to Simba SC in Tanzania.

The reverse fixture ended 1-1 at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium – Ibrahim Kasule opened scoring for Wakiso Giants before defender Hillary Mukundane levelled matters for Vipers.

The Purple Sharks started the second round with a 1-0 loss to KCCA at Wakissha.

Coached by John Ayala Luyinda, Wakiso Giants sit in fourth position, two points adrift of Vipers who has played a game less.

Wakiso shipped in five the last time they visited Kitende, with Yunus Sentamu (4) and Ceaser Manzoki on target in a game George Kaddu was sent off.
