South Sudan picked their first ever competitive win after overcoming Rwanda at the ongoing FIBA Zone Five Afribasket Women Qualifiers.
South Sudan, a newest member on the Continent, edged the contest 54-40 at the raucous Lugogo Indoor Arena in Kampala.
It was a vastly improved performance for South Sudan who lost their opener to Egypt on Tuesday.
Nyamuoch Pidor shot 6-of-13 from the field to top score with 18 points.
Acheil Marko Tac added 11 points, Rose Akon scored 9 points and as many rebounds while Adut Bulgak had 8 points and 12 rebounds.

Rwanda, playing their first game at the tournament, looked rusty despite leading the first Quarter 13-08.
South Sudan relied on their stifling defence to get the job done in a game they restricted Rwanda to only four(4) in the last quarter to overturn the tables.
No Rwandan player scored in double figures, with Faustine Mwizerwa and Charlotte Umugwaneza contributing eight (8) each.

And the final buzzer was greeted by wild celebrations on and off the court, contrasting images from those ones two years back when the side lost all their games at the Zone Five championship, their first tournament then.
