Big League side Kitara FC will not be taking Regional League side Uganda Pentecostal University for granted when the two sides meet in Hoima for the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32 clash.

UPU are the giant slayers having eliminated Uganda Premier League side URA FC in shootouts to reach this stage.

New Kitara head coach Ssimbwa Sam has warned his players against underestimating their opponents.

“We should not underestimate Uganda Pentecostal University because we all saw what they did against URA. They are a good team with very good and promising young players,” Ssimbwa said.

“I have been with these players not for so long but I am familiar with most of them and so far I am impressed with their response in training and I know they will put up a strong performance.”

“We shall be playing from home and we should be able to win because we want to go as far as we can in this competition,” Ssimbwa noted.

Ssimbwa joined Kitara in the January transfer window alongside a host of experienced players including Mucureezi Paul from Vipers and the midfielder is looking forward to representing his new club in the Stanbic Bank Uganda Cup.

“We are ready for the game and as a player, I am excited to be playing for this club I am going to try my level best and perform well and see if we can reach the final of the Stanbic Uganda Cup which I believe is possible,” Mucureezi noted.

Kitara edged out Buganda Region side Free Stars 3-0 in the shootouts following a goalless draw in normal time.

And they will be banking on home support at Kigaaya where they haven’t lost a game this season.

Ssimbwa will miss Right back Samuel Adipo who is undertaking a CAF C coaching course while Paddy Muhumuza (Fever), Joseph Mbabali (calf) and goalkeeper Jamil Kiyimba (groin) are also sidelined.

UPU is a third division entity based in the tourism city of Fort Portal, Western Uganda.

The Club features in the Kitara Regional League (Edward Group) that comprises of clubs in the Kabarole, Fort Portal City, Kasese, Bunyangabu, Bundibugyo, Ntoroko, Kyegegwa, Kitagwenda and Kyenjojo districts.
