KCCA FC have progressed to the round of 32 in the Stanbic Uganda Cup after a 3-0 win over Kampala Junior team in a game held at coffee grounds in Bugolobi.

Goals from Rogers Mato, Charles Lwanga and substitute Moses Waiswa ensured that the Morley Byekwaso’s side reach the next round.

KCCA FC finished the game with a man less after defender Geoffrey Wasswa was shown marching orders at the start of the second half.

On the other end, KJT also finished with two men less after goalkeeper Ssali Eric and Najib Muwonge were sent off in the second half as well.

It was a good show for KCCA FC, who dominated from the word go as they showed early intent to score on the day.

And Mato put them ahead in the 11th minute with a fine finish after benefiting from a dropping ball from Allan Okello.

KCCA could have scored more before the break but Lwanga and Okello missed on various occasions when in front of the goal.

At restart, KCCA were reduced to ten men after defender Wasswa was shown red card after a reckless tackle and use of abusive language.

But moments later, Mato made a sole run, beat his markers on the left side before setting up a well positioned Lwanga, who made no mistake to tap in an empty net to double his side’s lead.

Later with ten minutes to play, KJT’s goalkeeper Ssali was sent off after handling the ball outside the 18 yards box.

Substitute Waiswa stepped in and scored from the resultant freekick to put the game far beyond KJT’s reach.

And KJT’s Muwonge was later sent off for a second bookable offence, to sum up a poor day for his side.

KCCA FC now join a couple of Uganda Premier League sides that have already progressed to the next stage in this year’s Uganda Cup.

Among these are Bul, Onduparaka, UPDF, Vipers SC, SC Villa among others.

Byekwaso’s charges will now shift attention to the Wakiso Giants game this Thursday at Wakisha as the second round of the UPL gets underway.
