FUFA Confirms Nicknames For Ten National Teams

The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has confirmed the nicknames for all the National Teams.

The Federation manages 10 national teams including the Futsal side that is yet to play a single game.

The Futsal team has been named the Nile Cranes, in reference to the River Nile (Longest River in Africa) that has it’s source it Uganda.

The Uganda Cranes as well known is the senior national men’s team, ranked 89 in World Rankings per latest FIFA release last year in December.

Their Women Counterparts are the Crested Cranes, a side that last year made her debut at the Women Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The Women’s Junior teams have also been given nicknames; U20 and U17 teams called Queen and Teen Cranes respectively.

Notably, the U15 Boys team is called the Uganda Rhinos in reference to Rhinos which is one of a tourist attraction in the Country.

The Sand Cranes is the National Men Beach Soccer team, a side that has represented the Country at two back-to-back Beach Soccer AFCONs.
