Kampala Queens came from a goal down to register a 3-1 win over Asubo Gafford in a FUFA Women Super League game held at Kampala Quality grounds on Sunday.

Zaitun Namaganda had earlier put Asubo ahead to give the hosts a bright start on the day.

But goals from Elizabeth Nakigozi, Margret Kunihira and substitute Sophia Nakiyingi ensured that Kampala Queens complete a comeback.

The win, 10th for Kampala Queens helped the Moses Magogo owned side extend their good run in the season. They have won ten out of ten games and moved to 30 points on top of the log.

For Asubo, they remain rock bottom and have only collected four points after ten games.

On Sunday, it was the hosts who scored first on the day through Namaganda.

She made a sole run from the midfield, beat her markers before looping the ball past Kampala Queens goalkeeper Prima Migadde, who was off her line for the game’s opening goal.

But despite conceding first, Kampala Queens remained composed in search for a leveller.

And it paid off at the stroke of half time through Nakigozi, who benefited from Resty Nanziri’s pass to send in a left footed effort into the top corner of the net.

After the break, Kunihira made it two with a curler that beat the goalkeeper, thanks to a pass from Hassifa Nassuna.

And late in the game, substitute Nakiyingi put the icing on the cake with the third goal, thanks to again a pass from Nanziri.

Victory ensured that the leaders Kampala Queens got off a bright start in this second round. They are now on 30 points, 11 ahead of second placed Uganda Martyrs, who lost to Rines WFC on Sunday at Wakiso.

For Asubo Gafford, their woes continued as they suffered their eight loss in the season. They remained at the bottom with just four points and must double their efforts if they are to survive relegation this season.

Action in the FUFA Women super League will return next weekend with games at different venues, including one where Kampala Queens will host defending champions She Corporate at Kabojja.
