The second round on the 2022/24 FUFA Women super League will get underway on Saturday as Kawempe Muslim welcome UCU Lady Cardinals at Kawempe Muslim grounds.
The league, that was last held in November last year had taken a two months break and it returns with a number of fixtures this weekend.
Kawempe, who had a low start in the first round will be eager to start on a strong note as they host the Lady Cardinals.
They finished 7th in the first round with just 10 points and managed only two wins from as many games.
But Kawempe Muslim head coach Ayub Khalifa believes that his side will perform better starting with Saturday’s game.
“We want to use the home advantage and get maximum points against UCU. Yes they have an experienced team but we are also set to challenge them. Our biggest problem in the first round was the striking and goalkeeping department but we have tried to work on that during this break, he told the pressmen on Friday.
The pair of Haddija Nandago and Shakira Nyinagahirwa, who were shinning stars for Kawempe in the first round will be tasked to do the same against UCU on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the visitors, UCU will be seeking for a better start as well when they take on Kawempe Muslim at the Valley yard.
This season after the end of the first round, UCU established themselves as chasers for the big prize.
They finished third on 16 points and had collected five wins from nine games before the league took a break.
And they can’t afford to slip against Kawempe as they seek to keep pressure on the two teams on top in Uganda Martyrs and leaders Kampala Queens.
Their star girl Ashiat Nalugwa, the leading scorer with seven goals will be tasked to lift her side if they are to pick a needed result away from home.
