Kawempe Muslim WFC edged UCU Lady Cardinals 1-0 to earn a perfect start as the second round of the FUFA Women Super league got underway on Saturday.
Allen Nassazi’s second half strike was the difference as the Ayub Khalifa coached side bagged maximum points.
The win, third for Kawempe this season saw them move to the sixth position with now 13 points after 10 games so far.
For UCU, it was a poor outing for them as they suffered a fourth defeat in the season. They remained third on the log with 16 points after 10 games.
The game, held at Kawempe saw a limited chances from both sides and nothing could separate them in the opening 45 minutes.
But after the break, Kawempe came back a more rejuvenated side and Nassazi put them ahead in the 49th minute, a goal that later turned out winner.
UCU tried to stage a come back for the remaining part of the game but could not find a break through against a well organised Kawempe Muslim side.
Victory ensured that Ayub Khalifa’s charges kicked off the second round on a high note as they picked their third win of the season.
For UCU, it was a bad day in office for them as it dented their chances of closing down the gap at the top.
Elsewhere, Shila Galenda’s goal was the difference as Olila High school WFC picked a 1-0 win over Lady Doves in Masindi.
Action for Match Day 10 will continue on Sunday with more three games at different venues.
