Uganda Hippos Overcome Nine-man KCCA in Friendly

The Uganda U20 national team, the Hippos came from a goal down to register a 2-1 win over KCCA FC in a friendly game held at Lugogo on Tuesday afternoon.

Charles Lwanga had earlier on put KCCA ahead before the end of half time.

But goals from substitute John Paul Dembe and Umar Lutalo (penalty) ensured that Mayanja’s charges completed a come back.

KCCA FC finished the game with 9 men after defender Peter Magambo was shown matching orders before the end of half time for a second bookable offence before substitute Muhammad Shaban was also sent off in the second half.

After Tuesday’s win, it was also confirmed that the Hippos will have another friendly match this week on thursday against another UPL side, Bright Stars FC.

It was the fifth win for the Hippos out of the six friendly games they have had so far, losing only once in the process.

Earlier on this week on Monday, the team shifted from Njeru to Cranes Paradise hotel in kisasi and the win over KCCA was the first at Lugogo.

They had held their training sessions at Fufa technical center in Njeru in the past weeks, where they had friendly games against Jinja North United, Bul and Gaddafi.

Tito Ssematimba, who recently joined the team this was given some minutes later in the second half while Travis Mutyaba stayed on the bench.

The Hippos are gearing up for the AFCON U20 tournament that will take place between 19th February to 11th March in Egypt.

Mayanja’s men are pitted in Group B along Congo Brazaville, Central African Republic and South Sudan.
