Heathens Scrum-half Aaron Ofoyrwoth is optimistic his side can defend the Rugby Premier League title after starring in a dramatic 17-15 win over rivals KOBs at Legends on Saturday.
With probably the last play of the game, Ofoyrwoth scored with a drop goal as Heathens finished it late in the Lions Cup to spark wild celebrations.
KOBs thought they had done enough when Joseph Aredo split the uprights a minute earlier from the penalty to lead 15-14, before Ofoyrwoth happened.
“It wasn’t an easy game,” Ofoyrwoth exclaimed.
On his drop goal, he stated: “It was really a last minute take, we didn’t have any other option and I just did my best and I was like whether it goes out or in it’s just for the fans and teammates.”
“Each and every training session, I really practice those kicks. Even Saturday’s game, I tried it and it went under the posts first but when I tried it the second time thank God it really went in.”

It’s the second win for Heathens from as many games having beaten Buffaloes 50-09.
The defending champions however started the campaign with a 24-18 loss to Pirates at Kings Park.
“The loss against Pirates gave us a head forward and it was a lesson to us, and that’s why our heads are up there and we are focussed.”
“Win against KOBs is a good result for us and it gives us more confidence going forward, and I feel that we are ready to defend the title if we continue working as a team.”
