Ghana are out of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) after a 2-0 stunning loss to Niger on Sunday.
Konadu Yiadom scored in his own net while Soumana Hainikoye Boubacar was also on target for the Mena at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium in Algeria.
It’s the first time for Niger to reach the CHAN semifinals on fourth attempt.
They will face hosts Algeria in one of the two semis on Tuesday.
It’s strong to note that Niger topped a three-team group D that had Cameroon and Congo, beating the former 1-0.
Ghana Coach Annor Walker conceded defeat: “Niger were taking the 50/50 balls. They were determined. You could see that they were determined to win this match at all costs and when they got an early goal, it gave them more determination and, on our side, it demoralised us.”
In their quarterfinal, Madagascar proved too good for Mozambique with a deserved 3-1 win to reach the semis.
They will face Senegal in what promises to be a thrilling a semifinal.
The losers match and final will be played on February 3.
