Former basketball star Geoffrey ‘Jeff’ Omondi has been named the new coach of JT Lady Jaguars, The-SportsNation sources have learnt.
The Kenyan has been holding training sessions with the club at their new courts in Kiira (Jaguars Den) this week ahead of National Basketball League tip-off on March 10 2023.
Jeff, as popularly known in the Basketball fraternity, has been the assistant coach of Ali Mavita at KCCA Leopards.
Jeff who joined the Leopards in 2020, and one of the top three-point shooters of his generation, played for UCU Canons, Charging Rhino, Falcons, City Oilers and KCCA Panthers among others.
JT Lady Jaguars earned NBL promotion in an unbeaten campaign where they swept Kampala University in the finals last season.
With Nicholas Natuhereza as the Technical Manager, JT were coached by Yesman Bushiri and Sudi Ulanga last season.
The duo are still part of the team and will work alongside Jeff.
It remains to be seen if Jeff will also handle the Men’s side, JT Jaguars (Division One), awaiting official communication from the club.
