Mali survived an opening scare with a spirited fight against Mali at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Algeria.

Angola led 2-1 at halftime through Laurindo Aurelio’s brace while Haidou Sinyako had scored for Mali.

Miguel Viera made it 3-1 deep in the second half to leave Mali reeling.

But two late goals from Yoro Diaby and Ousmane Coulibaly saw Mali seal a 3-3 comeback draw.

Coulibaly’s corner was headed into the net by Yoro with 12 minutes to go.

And Coulibaly showed composure inside the area to guide in the equaliser after the initial shot was blocked.

In the other game, a second-half header by Jerome Ngom Mbekeli helped Cameroon edge Congo 1-0 over regional rivals Congo.
