Madagascar beat Ghana in their opening Group C game at the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Algeria.

The 2-1 victory is a huge statement and history in the making for a side that is making their debut at the tournament.

Solomampionona Koloina Razafindranaivo put Madagascar up front in the 11th minute.

Madagascar doubled the advantage through Tokinantenaina Olivier Randriantsiferana in the 62nd minute.

But Ghana pulled one back when Augustine Agyapong curved in from the right side but the side couldn’t find an equaliser.

The other Group C tie between Sudan and Morocco was not played after the latter withdrew to leave the Group with only three teams.
