David Deng ‘Dikong’ Kongor has sealed a move from Namuwongo Blazers to Burundi’s Dynamo Basketball Club.
Dikong moves to seek greener pastures in Burundi after two seasons with the Blazers, including a season that was halted by Covid-19.
He missed the first round of last season due to his engagements with Cobra basketball club in the Basketball Africa League.
After joining the Blazers midway later on, he guided the side to NBL finals where they lost to City Oilers in best of seven finals series.
He will be a big miss for the Blazers after averaging 12.8 points and 7 rebounds last season.
Dikong who was born in Arua, Uganda to South Sudanese parents, turned down a chance to play for Uganda’s Silverbacks (National Men’s team).
The Small forward studied at Buddo SS for A’level and came to the scene while playing for Giant Stomers.
In his A’level vacation, Dikong played for Destiny Phenoms before joining UCU Canons.
He is a big signing for Dynamo, a club that is based in Burundi Capital, Bujumbura.
Dynamo will be chasing their fourth title having been crowned champions in 1998, 2016 and 2018.
But they will face stiff competition against last year’s finalists Urunani and New Star in the Viva Basketball League.
