Fufa President Moses Magogo had a word with players and officials of the Uganda Cranes before the team flew out ahead of the CHAN tournament.
The Cranes will have a training camp in Tunisia before connecting to Algeria for a tournament that gets underway on January 13.
Magogo urged the players to fight for the badge: “We must be a very organised group, you have families, parents and people who believe in you; imagine them seeing you doing wonders for this country.”
“When you get on the pitch, give out your best whatever minutes the coach gives you.
“Let’s prepare ourselves; we are going for war, we are not going for a picnic and in this war if you don’t shoot you will be shot therefore you must always be switched on.”
The President added: “Let’s go out there and fight for ourselves, CHAN is about you more than AFCON.”
Uganda is in Group B alongside DR Congo, Senegal and Ivory Coast.
Did you know – The Cranes have qualified for every edition of the CHAN apart from the inaugural edition in 2009, but have never progressed past the group stages.
